Where we race - Cyclocross and Circuits
Circuit racing at Mallory Park
At the recent parents information evening there were a few questions about what the different options were for getting into racing. This is an attempt to pull together a whole range of different options that are available, whatever your level.
In this post we cover Cyclocross and Circuit racing. The next post will cover track/velodrome and MTB. If you want to suggest more races to add to this list, email firstname.lastname@example.org
We start with cyclocross - the mud, rain, cold and sweat. The West Midlands region is blessed with a wide range of opportunities to take part in cyclocross racing, with races running from September right through to the end of January. The closest leagues are:
West Midlands Cyclocross Leage (WMCCL) - our home region league with races from U6 right up to the veterans. The atmosphere is really friendly, but the racing is nicely competitive. Plenty of races within a short distance of Stratford, so easy to get to. If you want to be included in the league tables you need to register as a league member. You can usually do this in July or August.
For more information visit: http://wmccl.co.uk/
Leicestershire Cyclocross League - a newer league in neighbouring Leicestershire, this has many races within a short drive from Stratford. Essentially the same format as the WMCCL, but with an additional Novice race for adults who are new to the sport. Some familiar venues for those who remember when WMCCL lasted well into January!
Notts and Derby Cyclocross - Slightly further to travel, but many WMCCL riders will take part as these races are usually on a Saturday rather than the WMCCL Sunday. Two races in a weekend...!

Central Cyclocross league - Heading south, more cross racing with races in reasonable distance.

Western Cyclocross league - Now into the South West, we've had riders gain great results with a trip to the Western League. Also run a popular summer cyclocross series for those who want to keep their skills fresh during the road season.
